Thank you for choosing Ottawa Hardwood Floor Refinishing for your hardwood floor refinishing needs. We stand behind the quality of our workmanship and materials. This warranty outlines the terms and conditions under which we guarantee our refinishing services.
Please read it carefully and retain a copy for your records. This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original customer as listed on the invoice.
THREE (3) YEAR WARRANTY COVERAGE
Ottawa Hardwood Floor Refinishing provides a limited warranty on our hardwood floor refinishing services as follows:
Warranty Period: This warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials for a period of 3 years from the date of service completion, as indicated on your invoice. For extended warranties (e.g., up to 10 years), participation in our recommended maintenance program is required (see Maintenance Requirements below).
What Is Covered:
Uneven sanding or visible imperfections directly resulting from our refinishing process.
Peeling, cracking, chipping, bubbling, or improper adhesion of the finish under normal residential use.
Yellowing or discoloration of the finish that is not due to external factors (e.g., sunlight exposure).
Any gaps, loose areas, or other issues stemming from improper application during the refinishing.
If a covered defect occurs within the warranty period, Ottawa Hardwood Floor Refinishing will, at our discretion, repair or refinish the affected area(s) at no additional cost to you. We reserve the right to inspect the floor before approving any claim.
EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS
This warranty does not cover:
Normal wear and tear, including scratches, dents, gouges, or dulling of the finish from everyday use, furniture movement, pets, high heels, or abrasive cleaning.
Damage caused by water, moisture, spills, flooding, or excessive humidity (outside the recommended 35-55% relative humidity range).
Fading or color changes due to sunlight, UV exposure, or artificial lighting.
Issues arising from improper cleaning or maintenance, such as the use of harsh chemicals, steam mops, waxes, oils, or non-recommended cleaners.
Damage from accidents, misuse, abuse, or negligence (e.g., dragging heavy objects without protection).
Pre-existing conditions in the floor that were not addressed or disclosed during the initial assessment, including structural issues, subfloor problems, or previous damage.
Changes in wood appearance due to natural aging, expansion/contraction from environmental changes, or wood movement.
Any damage occurring during the initial curing period (e.g., foot traffic within 24-72 hours, furniture placement within 7 days, or exposure to pets/rugs during this time).
Commercial or high-traffic applications unless specified in a separate commercial warranty agreement.
Indirect or consequential damages, such as loss of use, inconvenience, or costs associated with temporary relocation.
This warranty is void if:
The floor is altered, repaired, or refinished by anyone other than Ottawa Hardwood Floor Refinishing without our prior written approval.
Proof of purchase (invoice) is not provided.
Recommended maintenance is not followed (see below).
The claim is not reported within 30 days of discovering the issue.
MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
To maintain this warranty and ensure the longevity of your refinished floors, you must adhere to the following care guidelines:
Use felt pads or protective glides on all furniture legs.
Clean spills immediately with a soft, damp cloth and a pH-neutral wood floor cleaner recommended by Ottawa Hardwood Floor Refinishing.
Maintain indoor humidity between 35-55% year-round using humidifiers or dehumidifiers as needed.
Avoid direct sunlight with window coverings; use area rugs in high-traffic zones (after full curing).
For extended warranty coverage, enroll in our professional maintenance program, which includes annual deep cleaning and recoating every 3-5 years by our certified technicians.
Failure to follow these guidelines may void the warranty.
HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM
To submit a warranty claim:

Contact Ottawa Hardwood Floor Refinishing at (613) 209-2838 or admin@ottawahardwoodfloorrefinishing.ca within 30 days of noticing the issue.

Provide your invoice number, date of service, and a detailed description of the problem, including photos if possible.

Allow our team to inspect the floor at a mutually convenient time.
All decisions regarding repairs or remedies are at our sole discretion.
DISCLAIMER
This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Ottawa Hardwood Floor Refinishing shall not be liable for any incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use or inability to use the refinished floors.
